The records went for a toss during the third and final T20I between Pakistan and West Indies in Karachi after the home side completed a clean sweep win in the series. Pakistan successfully chased down a target of 208 runs, their highest chase in the T20I cricket by 7 wickets and with more than an over to spare.
The wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam began the proceedings in a perfect manner as the two batters put up yet another 100-run stand for the side. Babar and Rizwan stitched a partnership of 158 runs before the captain was finally sent back in the hut by Odean Smith for a 53-ball 79 but Rizwan continued with his onslaught to score 86 off 45 deliveries.
The hosts lost a couple of wickets in a quick succession and were 195/3 in 18.1 overs when Asirf Ali took the onus and anchored the side to a win. Asif remained unbeaten at 21 off 7, a knock that included two maximums and as many fours during the course.
Earlier, in the day, the Caribbean side also rode on the brilliant batting display to post 207/3 in 20 overs. While Brandon King struck 43 off 21, Shamarh Brooks missed out on a fifty by just one run as scored a 31-ball 49. But Nicholas Pooran showed his class and unleashed a batting masterclass to notch up 64 in 37 deliveries.
Dahani was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan who returned with an impressive economy rate as he just gave 23 runs in 4 overs and also picked up a wicket.
Player of the series, Rizwan talked about the win.”207 is a big target, the coach told us to target the circle as the West Indies had done and that was the first target which we achieved. I have focussed better and I don't know how many runs I have got,” he said after the match.
