An all-round show from Jaffna Kings helped them thump Colombo Stars by 102 runs in the Lanka Premier League fixture in Colombo on Thursday. Batting first, Jaffna rode on a brilliant show from the batters, especially the openers, Kohler-Cadmore and Tharanga to post 193/5 in 20 overs.
The two batsmen began the proceedings in a dominating manner as they put 110 on the board in less than 12 overs before Tharanga departed for 37 off 33. But Cadmore continued with his destruction and notched up a 55-ball 92 before he got out to Naveen-ul-Haq. Cadmore’s knock comprised eight sixes and five fours during the course.
While the opener did the majority of scoring, Wanindu Hasaranga also chipped in with a late surge as he remained unbeaten at 19 off 7. Naveen was the pick of the bowlers for his side after he returned with figures of 3/27 in 4 overs.
Colombo in reply, never looked in control of the chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals and were left tottering at 71/7 before getting bundled out for 91 in 15.5 overs.

Cadmore who was the man of the match emphasised that it was about getting the two crucial points for his side. “It was about getting the team over the line. For me it was about the two points we got tonight. Hopefully we can continue this in the knockout round as our players are clicking at the right time,” he said after the match.
