India legend Yuvraj Singh didn’t hold back from discussing India’s batting sensation Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal during India’s T20I match against Bangladesh on October 6. Yuvraj and Abhishek share a unique mentor-student relationship that’s been developing over the years. 

The former India all-rounder has been instrumental in grooming the 24-year-old’s batting skills, often challenging him to take his game to the next level. 

India faced Bangladesh in the first T20I at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 128, Abhishek Sharma opened alongside Sanju Samson and seemed intent on making a quick impact. In his seven-ball stint, he scored 16 runs, including two boundaries and one six, with an impressive strike rate 228.57. 

However, his innings came to an abrupt end when confusion between the wickets led to a run-out. Samson had pushed the ball towards mid-wicket, and Abhishek rushed for a single, only to find himself trapped and dismissed.

While Abhishek seemed pleased with his short but explosive contribution, sharing his contentment in an Instagram post, Yuvraj Singh wasn’t as impressed. He quickly pointed out the lapse in judgment that led to Abhishek’s downfall, responding to a comment on the post with, “Only if we apply our brains properly.”

India Beat Bangladesh By 7 wickets

India, however, cruised to victory in the match, securing a seven-wicket win. Bangladesh struggled with the bat, getting bowled out for 127. Arshdeep Singh’s impressive figures of 3 for 14 set the tone early, dismissing both openers cheaply. Contributions from Varun Chakravarthy, Mayank Yadav, and Washington Sundar further kept Bangladesh in check. While Najmul Hossain Shanto (27) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35) tried to steady the ship, India remained in control.

In the chase, Hardik Pandya sealed the game with an unbeaten 39 off just 16 balls, while both Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 29 each.
