Kamlesh Jain, who is currently associated with Kolkata Knight Riders since 2012, is expected to be named as the new physio for the Indian cricket team.
According to reports, in a recent interview, Kamlesh impressed head coach Rahul Dravid, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, and NCA chairman VVS Laxman. Although no official announcement has been made, Jain received oral confirmation from the board.
Nitin Patel took over as head of Sports Science and Sports Medicine at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru. He has been the head physio of the Indian cricket team since August 2019.
Once the IPL season concludes, Jain will take over his new role, with the home series against South Africa serving as his first international assignment. Yogesh Parmar, who worked alongside Nitin Patel on the Indian side, will assist him. India will host South Africa in a five-match T20I series beginning June 9.
"We are very happy for him. He is thoroughly deserving of the position," a KKR official reported to Cricbuzz.
Jain worked as an assistant physio under Andrew Leipus at KKR for seven years before being promoted to head physio in 2020.
