Ahead of the highly awaited Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction, it has been understood that Rajasthan-based IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals is likely to retain three key players. 

RR To Retain Three Key Players

The list includes the name of Rajasthan Royals' skipper, Sanju Samson, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and middle-order batter Riyan Parag. Furthermore, the Indian Express report stated that the team is also currently in talks with England’s Jos Buttler.

Earlier in September, former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid was appointed Rajasthan Royals' head coach ahead of the upcoming IPL season. He returned to the franchise in a new-avatar alongside ex-India batting coach Vikram Rathour.

What are the new retentions and regulations for IPL 2025 mega-auctions?

According to the new regulations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has permitted each team to retain six players of which five can be capped players (Indian/Overseas) with a maximum of two uncapped players. The cost of retention for a franchise will be as follows: Rs 18 crore for the first player, Rs 14 crore for the second, Rs 11 crore for the third, while the fourth and fifth players will cost Rs 18 crore and Rs 14 crore respectively.

Moreover, the team can also retain an uncapped player and forgo the Right to Match (RTM), however if they retain only 5, they will keep the RTM option available.

All the IPL franchises are expected to submit a list of all the players they aim to retain to the BCCI as soon as October 31st.
