The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly refuted claims made by British newspaper The Telegraph regarding the potential relocation of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final from Lahore to Dubai if India qualifies for the summit clash.

The report suggested that the PCB is considering a hybrid model for the tournament, with Dubai as a potential alternative venue for the final should India secure a spot. However, in the recent reports,  PCB has dismissed these claims, and stated that they are committed to hosting the entire event within Pakistan’s borders.

PCB Stands Firm On Hosting Champions Trophy 2025 In Pakistan

In recent reports of Cricket Pakistan, the board has emphasized that all Champions Trophy matches, including the final, are set to take place across three major venues in Pakistan: Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi.

PCB also earlier mentioned that extensive preparations are underway to upgrade these stadiums, ensuring they meet the standards required for hosting international tournaments.

“There is absolutely no truth to the reports suggesting that the Champions Trophy final could be moved outside Pakistan. We are working diligently to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are on track, and we are confident that Pakistan will be able to host a memorable event.” a PCB spokesperson was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan on Tuesday.

The marquee tournament is scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9, 2025. According to reports, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium has been earmarked to host seven matches, including the much-anticipated final on March 9. Meanwhile, Karachi’s National Stadium is slated to stage the tournament’s opening match as well as one of the semi-finals, while Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host the other semi-final and five additional matches.

It is important to note that India has not played a match on Pakistani soil since the 2008 Asia Cup, as strained diplomatic relations have impeded bilateral cricket ties between the two countries.
