IPL 2022 | Another Covid case in Delhi camp; placed in isolation

After a positive Covid case was discovered in the most recent round of testing, the Delhi Capitals (DC) were forced to remain in isolation once more. A net bowler had tested positive, according to some sources within the franchise and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The news was released just hours before the Capitals were set to face off Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday evening (May 8) to play their 11th game of the season. Reportedly, a new round of testing took place on Sunday morning, with all contingent members confined to their rooms.

The Delhi team has been forced into isolation for the second time this season of IPL 2022. Six team members tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this season, including physio Patrick Farhart, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, keeper-batter Tim Seifert, and three other non-playing members. As a result, their games against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), which were originally scheduled for Pune, were also moved to Mumbai.

The BCCI is yet to make an announcement, but franchise sources have stated that there will not be any alterations to the match schedule. "We understand that the match will take place; otherwise, we would have received notification by now," a CSK official reported. "It's just a net bowler, and everyone is in their rooms. As a result, we do not anticipate any changes."

The Rishabh Pant-led team has ten points from ten games, with five wins and the same number of losses, and still are in contention for a playoff berth. Following Sunday's match, they will play Rajasthan Royals on May 11, Punjab Kings on May 16, and Mumbai Indians on May 21.
