Former Punjab Kings leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi will be making his debut for India today against West Indies in the Eden Gardens Kolkata.
Bishnoi has been a highly valued commodity in the Indian Premier League for being one of the best modern era wrist spinners in India. A top fielder as well, Bishnoi has troubled batters throughout his stint at the IPL and is well regarded as a google bowler. Such has been the demand amongst the fans in the Indian Premier League that fans were furious with Punjab Kings not playing Bishnoi on a regular basis in the 2020 season.
Last year, Bishnoi played 9 matches for Kings and picked up 12 wickets at a stunning economy of 6.34. He was not retained by the Kings and moved to Lucknow as a pre-auction pick for R 4 crore. The 21-year-old has the potential to be a regular in the Indian team in the coming years and could do extreme damage to the opposition as a modern day wrist spinner.
Rohit Sharma has said in previous press conferences that he has been asked to experiment with the squad and he seems to be keeping true to his word. Bishnoi could either become an understudy to Yuzvendra Chahal or partner with Washington Sundar in the long run.
