Singer and Music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Wednesday, 16 February in Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital. A legend in the Indian music industry, Lahiri was famed for his groovy beats that ruled the scene.
Lahari was known to be suffering from multiple health issues one of them being obstructive sleep apnea, a condition which he succumbed to. "Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight," PTI quoted Dr Deepak Namjoshi as saying.
Indian cricketing fraternity showered wishes for the beloved Bappi da remembering the icon. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli called Lahiri a legend and said the words that millions of Indians would resonate to - that Lahiri will be missed.
Yuvraj Singh and Sachin Tendulkar reminisced Lahari's exceptional compositions and stated that the Indian national team would listen to his song 'Yaad aa raha hai' several times in the dressing room.
Bappi Lahiri was last seen on the stage of Big Boss 15 promoting his grandson's new song. He is survived by his two children - his son Bappa Lahiri and his daughter Rema Lahiri.
