  • Yuvraj Singh Lauds Rishabh Pant For Maiden Odi Ton Recalls Their 45 Minute Conversation

Yuvraj Singh lauds Rishabh Pant for maiden ODI ton, recalls their 45-minute conversation

Rishabh Pant finished off the England tour with a match-winning hundred for India. Pant’s unbeaten 125 helped India clinch the three-match One-Day International series 2-1 against a Jos Buttler-led England side.

Former Indian player Yuvraj Singh lauded the explosive wicket-keeper batter for his knock at Manchester and ended up revealing little details about their conversation in the process.

The southpaw who was one of the most destructive players in white-ball cricket tweeted, "Looks like the 45-minute conversation made sense!! Well played Rishabh Pant that’s how you pace your innings. Hardik Pandya great to watch."

Pant was heavily criticised before the England tour because of his tendency to throw away his wicket, but the Indian batter came up trumps when his side needed him the most.

Pant following in Yuvraj's footsteps?

Singh was a master when it came to building innings and his partnerships with Mohammad Kaif, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Suresh Raina during chases are a testament to his abilities.

Pant, who came into bat at number four in Manchester, combined with Hardik Pandya and added 133 runs, helping the Rohit Sharma-led XI chase down 260 runs.

Regardless of the criticism, Pant has a healthy average of 51.8 in ODIs since 2021. Against England, he has 312 runs at an average of 78, which includes a century and two half-centuries.

I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting: Pant

The 25-year-old spoke about his approach during the innings, coming into bat with India in trouble.

“Hopefully I remember (this knock) for the rest of my life. I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting. When your team is under pressure and you bat like that .. something I aspire to do. I always enjoy playing in England, at the same time enjoy the atmosphere and the situation. The more you play the more experience you gain,” he told in the post-match presentation.

Pant was named man of the match for his knock, and will next be seen playing for India, in T20Is vs West Indies.
