How Did Rohit Sharma's Masterstroke Guide Karn Sharma To Orchestrate DC's Fall?

Rohit Sharma’s batting form may be under scrutiny in IPL 2025, but his tactical acumen remains unmatched. On Sunday, Mumbai Indians clinched a thrilling 12-run victory against Delhi Capitals, ending their dominant streak.

Chasing 206, Delhi seemed unstoppable with Karun Nair’s explosive 22-ball fifty. However, Rohit Sharma's mid-game masterstroke shifted momentum. A timely ball change under the new IPL dew rule triggered a collapse, as Delhi stumbled from 135/2 to 157/6, handing Mumbai only their second win this season.

Rohit Sharma’s Mid-Game Masterstroke Turned The Tide

With Delhi Capitals cruising at 11 runs per over, Rohit Sharma signalled Mumbai’s dugout to swap the ball after the 10th over. Utilising the league’s new rule to counter dew, Karn Sharma introduced a drier ball, which immediately disrupted Delhi’s rhythm.

Karn dismissed Tristan Stubbs in the 14th over and removed KL Rahul in the 16th. The Capitals collapsed, scoring just 22 runs in the next 24 balls. Mitchell Santner and sharp fielding sealed the win, with three run-outs in the 19th over.

This wasn’t Rohit’s first intervention. In Mumbai’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants, he advised bowlers from the dugout to deploy slower deliveries against Nicholas Pooran. The West Indies star fell shortly after, showcasing Rohit’s sharp reading of the game even when not on the field.

Rohit Sharma’s Batting Woes Continue

Despite his leadership heroics, Rohit’s batting slump persists. In five IPL 2025 matches, he has scored just 56 runs at 11.20, failing to cross 20+ in any inning. Since 2023, his average of 24.39 is the second-lowest among openers (min. 25 innings), raising questions about his role as a specialist captain.
