The opening day of the India and New Zealand 1st Test at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium was marred not only by rain but also by fan outrage over unclean seating conditions. Despite paying high ticket prices to watch the match, fans found themselves dealing with seats covered in dust and bird droppings, sparking widespread frustration and embarrassment for the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

Fans Upset With Facilities At M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

As the rain caused delays, and ultimately the day was called off due to bad weather, fans who managed to find shelter under the stands quickly noticed the state of the seating areas. Social media soon filled with photos and videos shared by attendees, showing rows of dirty seats neglected by stadium maintenance.

Many fans reported having to clean their seats themselves, using tissues and napkins to wipe away the grime before sitting down.

For some, the poor seating conditions felt disrespectful, especially considering the premium ticket prices and the high expectations associated with international cricket matches.  Disappointed fans took to social media to voice their frustration, with comments like “We’re paying for a proper experience, not to clean up bird droppings,” and “KSCA needs to be held accountable—this is not what we paid for.”

The reaction online has been overwhelmingly critical, with many fans pointing fingers at the KSCA for failing to uphold basic hygiene standards.

The situation has raised questions about the association's preparedness and maintenance practices, with calls for improved cleanliness and maintenance of the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium . Some fans went so far as to demand refunds or compensation, while others threatened to boycott future matches at the venue if conditions do not improve.
