The match 33 between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad turned out to be an interesting game with both teams in a need of a win. However, it was the home team, MI who emerged victorious in the end, winning the game by five wickets.
Lifeline To Ryan Rickelton Triggers Cheating Allegations
There were quite a few incidents though that created buzz around the fans, and the old allegations of cheating by MI resurfaced. One of those incidents was in the seventh over when Rickelton was given out off the bowling of Zeeshan Ansari.
It was a short and wide delivery, outside off. Rickelton cut it aerially towards Pat Cummins at covers. He took the catch safely, and Ryan Rickelton was almost near the stairs, outside the playing area when he was stopped and the umpire decided to check whether Klaasen had his gloves infront of stumps while the batter played a shot.
After the numerous angles, it was decided that the gloves were in front of stumps, and Rickelton was asked to come back. It raised allegation of cheating on Mumbai Indians camp, but they looked baseless, as it is in the rules to call back a player if the ball is declared no ball after checking.
Also, the replays clearly showed that the gloves were in front of stumps, so the umpire was right in calling back Ryan Rickelton to the crease. Eventually, Ryan Rickelton departed on 31 from 23 balls, and MI have registered their second consecutive win of the season.
