Will Jacks for RCB and MI (Source: AP Photos)
Will Jacks played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 IPL, and played some sparkling knocks for them which included a century as well. It was expected that RCB will go after him in IPL 2025 auction, but they did not, and MI benefitted by buying MI for just 5.25 Crore.
MI Beat Punjab Kings' Bid To Buy Will Jacks
In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Will Jacks had a base price of 2 Crore, and it was Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians who were interested in English all-rounder. The bid went till 5.25 Crore, and RCB had a chance to use RTM which helped MI buy a quality all-rounder for quite a less price.

RCB could have used their RTM card to inflate Will Jacks' price, and then back off like DC did with Rishabh Pant. However, they did not use that strategy and helped MI save some precious money during the auction. Will Jacks has not set the world on fire so far in IPL 2025, but he is a quality player and made useful contributions with both bat and ball against SRH.
Jacks scored 36 off 26 balls while he picked two wickets for 14 runs in his three overs. RCB despite not taking Will Jacks are doing better than MI, and it would be interesting to see how both the high-profile teams go about their business as the season progresses.
