Despite not registering for IPL, Jofra Archer bags Rs 8 crore late on Day 2

England fast bowler Jofra Archer bagged Rs 8 crores in the Indian Premier League mega auctions on Sunday, 13 February. Despite dwindling funds the teams engaged in a bidding war the best they could and went till Rs 6 crore.

Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad were the three teams in the hunt, but with Rs 10 crore and Rs 13 crore approximately, both RR and SRH had to butt out. Mumbai Indians on the other hand had over Rs 23 crore left in their purse and comfortably went on to buy Archer.

Mumbai now house Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah in the same line-up, which could turn out to be a scary proposition for the opponent teams. However, it needs to be understood that Jofra had not registered his name in the IPL Auctions indicating that he would not be playing in 2022.

BCCI had also warned the franchises that the tearaway fast bowler would be put in the accelerated pool and if picked, teams would not get a replacement in case Jofra chooses not the play the 2022 season.
