The IPL 2021 mini auctions are scheduled to take place on February 18. The franchises have released few players and will be looking to fulfil the void. Here’s a list of batsmen who can leave an impact and can fetch good amount of money in the auctions.
Steve Smith
Former Australia captain Steve Smith was released by Rajasthan Royals earlier. Smith has been a part of franchises like Pune Warriors India, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, RCB and Rising Pune Supergiant in the past editions. RR’s ex-captain has played a total of 95 matches and scored 2333 runs at an average of 35. He was released by Rajasthan Royals earlier and might fetch some big amount when he goes under the hammer.
Alex Carey
The wicket-keeps batsman Alex Carey can be a fruitful pick as he can be as an opener too. The left-handed batsman had a brief stay at the Delhi Capitals camp before he was released. He has been in some good form recently in the BBL 10 scoring 425 runs in 13 matches for Adelaide Strikers.
Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell is probably one of the finest stroke-makers in white-ball cricket. But his dismal run in the IPL 2020 for KXIP forced the franchise to release him. Maxwell only scored 108 runs after being capped 13 times while only picked up three wickets. But his vast experience in the shortest format can compel some franchises to pick the Australian in the side. He has played a total of 301 T20s so far scoring over 6000 runs at a strike-rate of 152.05.
Alex Hales
England batsman Alex Hales has been in some prime form with the bat in the BBL 10. Hales has notched up a total of 543 runs in 15 matches at a strike-rate of 161.60. Known for his hard-hitting abilities, Hales can fill up the void for any team. He has been a part of the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad camp. He in fact played 6 matches for SRH in the 2018 edition. He scored 148 runs during the course.
Marnus Labuschagne
Australia’s new found talent Marnus Labuschagne has made a good name for himself in a short period of time. While he has unfolded some fine knocks in Test cricket while has been impressive in the BBL 10 while playing for Brisbane Heat. He scored 161 runs in 5 matches for the Heat.
Labuschagne’s prolific batting and handy bowling can create some useful prospects for the teams.
