Former England captain Michael Vaughan has slammed Australia for postponing the tour of South Africa. Vaughan in a tweet wrote, “The Aussies pulling out of the tour of SA is a huge worry for the game...Would they have pulled out of a tour to India is the question??!!"
"It's so important in these times that the big three do everything they can to help out those without the financial clout ...#JustSaying," he added.
Australia had postponed the tour of South Africa citing COVID-19 issues. "Following extensive due diligence with medical experts, it has become clear that traveling from Australia to South Africa at this current time poses an unacceptable level of health and safety risk to our players, support staff, and the community," Hockley said in a statement.
The Cricket South Africa did express their disappointment on this. "We are extremely disappointed by the decision of CA. CSA has been working tirelessly in recent weeks to ensure that we meet every single expectation of CA," said Smith in CSA release. The two teams were scheduled to play three Tests.
With Australia postponing the tour, New Zealand have qualified for the WTC finals automatically while the second team would be decided on the basis of India-England series.
