Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das was reportedly forced to cut short his batting session during practice at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Monday after suffering a back strain. The injury comes just days before Bangladesh’s Super Four clash against India in the Asia Cup 2025.

According to The Daily Star, the 30-year-old experienced discomfort on his left side while attempting a cut shot after completing an extended fielding session.

Litton immediately stopped batting, sat down, and later lay on the ground next to the nets. Team physio Bayezidul Islam and the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician, Dr Debashish Chowdhury, rushed to attend to him on the spot.

Will Litton Das be fit for the upcoming match against India?

Dr Debashish told the publication, “I don’t think it’s anything serious. We’ll see.” While the injury does not appear critical, it remains a concern for the Tigers ahead of one of their toughest matches in the tournament.

Litton Das is Bangladesh’s captain and a key player who holds their batting lineup together. He has hit 119 runs so far in the Asia Cup 2025 with a 29.75 average and a 129.35 strike rate.

Moreover, against India, the Tigers need their best men fighting out in front. One misstep could cost them the game and jeopardise Bangladesh’s Asia Cup campaign.

That being said, Bangladesh will face India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, September 24. Bangladesh’s coaching staff will be monitoring Litton closely to ensure he is fit to lead the team and perform at his best.

Parvez Hossain Emon will be ready on the bench

In case things go south for Bangladesh and Litton Das does end up missing the game against India, young batter Parvez Hossain Emon could likely replace the skipper. The young opener previously showed a lot of promise but was sidelined due to inconsistency. However, in case of adversity, the Tigers might have no choice but to trust Emon.
