BPL 2022 | Khulna Tigers bulldozes Victorians, seals the Playoffs' berth

As the league stage of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2022 came to an end, Khulna Tigers gathered a much-needed win over Comilla Victorians and held their nerves in a virtual knockout encounter. 

Asked to bowl first, Khulna Tigers had luck by their side as their opponent Comilla Victorians threw early wickets, courtesy of two run-outs. However, as the innings progressed, the Victorians' skipper Faf du Plessis took the control in his own hands and pulled his side out of deep waters.

Scoring at a brisk rate, du Plessis donned the aggressor's hat but lacked support from the other end. Still, the captain piloted his team to a good total of 182 runs and managed to score a ton in the last league match of the season.

With 183 runs to chase, the Tigers demanded a good start from their openers, the request which they fulfilled. Andre Fletcher and Mahedi Hasan achieved the record opening stand of 182 runs while trying to focus on asserting their dominance on Comilla's bowlers.

While Fletcher tonked right from the word go, Mahedi Hasan batted with utmost control. The two players did not let the scoreboard pressure get onto their heads and paced their innings quite well. The batters gave their all in a must-win game as their performance helped Khulna Tigers seal the playoffs' spot.

Comilla Victorians ended the league stage at the second spot with six wins in six matches, while Khulna Tigers made a last-day entry into the top four, finishing with five wins in ten games.
