The former Bangladesh spinner Abdur Razzak has resigned from the role of a national selector and is all set to join the election race of the BCB. Razzak has held the position of selector since January 2021, but now aims to represent Khulna Division in the BCB board room.

The development has been reported by Cricbuzz, and Razzak, in his statement to the website, has highlighted that he wants to now embark on a new journey after serving as a player and national selector.

"I have resigned from the selectors post to join the BCB election," Razzak said after submitting the nomination paper from category 1. I served this nation as a player and a selector and now want to take the new challenge that lies ahead by joining the board of directors if elected," Razzaq told Cricbuzz.

The election is scheduled to be held on October 6, and 25 directors will elect the president of BCB. The final voter list of 191 councillors was released by BCB after 15 Dhaka-based clubs were initially ignored following an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for irregularities.

Abdur Razzak Sets Eyes On A New Journey

Abdur Razzak was one of the key left-arm spinners for Bangladesh in the latter half of the first decade of the 21st century. He played 13 Tests and picked 28 wickets, but it was in the ODI format that he sizzled the most, playing a big role in many of Bangladesh's famous wins.

He picked up 207 wickets in 153 ODIs, which included four five-wicket hauls and even played for RCB in the inaugural IPL edition. Overall, Abdur Razzak has been a long servant of Bangladesh cricket even after his retirement in 2018 and would now look to add another glorious chapter in his cricket journey.
