According to emerging reports, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are all set to make some bold strategic moves ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. While SRH will likely keep Abhishek Sharma, Pat Cummins, and Heinrich Klaasen as their retained players, the Capitals are considering strengthening their Indian core by persisting with Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

The Orange Army will also likely retain Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy, while using their Right To Match (RTM) card for an uncapped player. Meanwhile, DC will preserve their RTMs to draft the swashbuckling duo of Tristan Stubbs and Jake Fraser-McGurk back into their setup.

In such a scenario, many SRH and DC players, including several high-profile names, will enter the mega auction pool. So, before the franchises submit their final retention list, let's see which DC and SRH players might break the bank in this year's auction.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Once hailed as India's swing king, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been the backbone of SRH's bowling attack. The right-arm speedster has enjoyed stellar success for the franchise, scalping 157 wickets, including two fifers, in 145 innings.

However, if reports are to be believed, Bhuvneshwar won't likely be among SRH's retentions, making it into the mega auction pool as one of the most sought-after players. The speedster is a proven performer and has a plethora of IPL experience.

Despite being on the wrong side of the 30s, Bhuvneshwar still makes the new ball talk at a decent pace. So, he must be on the radar of many teams that will utilise the mega auction to revamp their pace battery. Considering his reputation and past performance, it won't be surprising if Bhuvneshwar attracts multiple bidders and breaches the elusive 10-crore mark.

Prithvi Shaw

Delhi Capitals invested in Prithvi Shaw when he was a prodigy and used to make heads turn with his scintillating stroke play. Although he fine-tuned his technique, putting up a stellar performance in the IPL 2021, his inconsistent returns in the tournament's subsequent editions let the Capitals down, resulting in their top-order failure.

Shaw managed 198 runs but failed to convert his starts into significant scores in the IPL this year, which is why he might be among the released players ahead of the mega auction.

However, although Shaw failed to convince the Capitals with his batting, he is one of India's most destructive top-order batters going around. There's absolutely no doubt regarding his ability to capitalise on the field restrictions, so if he goes under the hammer, several franchises will go after him to the hilt and try to bring him into their setup.

Harry Brook

Harry Brook, one of the most effortless power-hitters in modern-day game, has all the ingredients to succeed on India's turning tracks. The explosive batter recently struck a triple ton at a blistering strike rate, leaving Pakistan in tatters at Multan Cricket Stadium.

Despite being picked by the Capitals, Brook withdrew from the IPL 2024, citing personal reasons. However, cometh 2024, he is firing on all cylinders across the format. His wristy strokeplay could be a game-changer for multiple IPL franchises that lack a spin-basher in the middle overs. Furthermore, he can frustrate the fast bowlers with his 360-degree strokeplay, making himself an asset across phases.

So, if Brook is released by DC, several IPL teams will try to secure his services despite his potential whopping price tag.
