How Can Delhi Capitals Qualify For IPL 2025 Playoffs After Loss To Gujarat Titans?

In the 60th match of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans demolished Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets and have qualified for the playoffs. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings have also qualified and as a result, only only playoff spot is up for grabs. 

Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are the three teams fighting it out for that last position. DC still have things in their hand, but the loss to GT has surely made things bit tricky for them. Here is how they can quallify for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenarios

  • Delhi Capitals will qualify for the playoffs if they win both the remaining games as they will reach 17 points after 14 games.
  • Secondly, the major race of the final playoff berth is between MI and DC. Both the teams would go head-to-head against each other in their next game. If DC win against MI, they would move to 15 points, while MI will stay at 14. However, if they lose to MI, they will be eliminated as five-time champions will then move to 16 points while DC even after a win in their final game would reach a maximum of 15 points.
  • Thus, if DC have to qualify for the playoffs, they need to beat MI in their next game and hope that MI lose to Punjab Kings incase they end up losing their game to the same team. This makes the game between MI and DC pretty crucial. It is a do-or-die game for Delhi Capitals, and a win would boost their chances significantly.

Delhi Capitals will take on Mumbai Indians on May 21 at the Wankhede Stadium while their final game is against Punjab Kings on May 24.
