On Wednesday, October 16, India will lock horns against New Zealand in the first of three-match Test series. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host the series opener as the players from both camps are sweating hard in the nets.

India are eying a similar performance as the one against Bangladesh and strengthening their position on the WTC standings, while New Zealand are placed 6th on the table and need to win the upcoming three games. Ahead of the crucial match, let's look at the pitch report.

India vs New Zealand 1st Test: Pitch Report

Chinnaswamy Stadium is known to be a batter's paradise. The stadium has made a name for favouring the batters. However, the last time India played a red-ball game here at this venue was in 2022 against Sri Lanka. It was a one-sided game as India posted 500+ runs in both innings combined, but the visitors struggled for runs.

Thus, the surface for tomorrow's game is favourable for the batters, but spinners, too would have a role to play as the strip gets slower as the match goes on. Thus, the Rohit Sharma-led side are likely to go ahead with three spinners and might rest an extra seamer.

Weather Report For India-New Zealand 1st Test

It is currently raining in Bengaluru and rain threat looms over the much-awaited 1st Test. India and New Zealand's training sessions were also hampered because of the ongoing rains in the city.  Further, the weather prediction states that Bengaluru is likely to experience rain for the next five days and it can hamper India's chances for WTC finals.

According to AccuWeather, Day 1 has  41% rain probability, with thunderstorms anticipated in the afternoon. Further, bad light too can come into play as thick layer of black clouds are predicting above the stadium. The same pattern is expected to carry over into Days 2 and 3, with high chances of interruptions due to rain.
