India have entered the World Cup semifinals with a winning streak of nine matches under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Having won all of the league games, India have stuck to the same set of combinations throughout the tournament and that's what has been working well for the team.

Rohit Sharma has always talked about backing players and giving them the much-needed freedom. In the press conference before the big semifinal game against New Zealand, he again shed light on the importance of backing players and allowing them to express themselves on the biggest stage.

Even in this World Cup, Shreyas Iyer was not able to score runs during the initial games of the tournament, but the team backed him, which is now paying off as he has now scored two half-centuries and one century in the last three matches.

Here's what Rohit Sharma said

"As a captain, if you have decided this is how you want to play then you must have clarity. You have to back the players to the hilt. We have backed certain players whom we have given certain roles. We'll back players and stand with them. We have to give credit to Rahul Dravid for buying into that thought and not shuffle much when it doesn't come off. We'll continue to do that in future as well. Role clarity and giving guys the freedom. One moment was when all four of us bowled and crowd enjoyed the moment."

While discussing his batting approach in the ongoing tournament, Rohit said it's all about role clarity, which helps the players get going. He also credited coach Rahul Dravid for buying into the same thought.

Team India will again face the Kiwis in the semifinal of the World Cup 2023 and will make sure it does not go the same way it did in the World Cup 2019.
