England may have had a disappointing tournament but David Willey had a good time for the one last time in international cricket in his last ICC tournament. Even in his last game of international cricket, he has been named the Player of the Match.

During the ongoing World Cup 2023, David Willed penned a note and took social media to share that he will be retiring from international cricket after the World Cup. Having made his debut for England back in 2015, he missed out on a few ICC tournaments. He played cricket for England in patches, but for the last year or more, he has been a consistent member of England's limited-overs squad.

Willey was also a part of England's T20 World Cup 2022 winning squad, which he was grateful to be a part of, as he shared in his final speech in his last game today against Pakistan.

Here's what David Willey said after being named the Player of the Match in the last match of his career:

"The tournament hasn't gone according to the plan for us (England). To get to 100 ODI wickets is a special moment for me. A nice way to finish. We've got a phenomenal dressing room with great players. Rob Key said to me hope you prove me wrong. I hope I've done that. If I look back, I was never the best player (during academy days). I've just been resilient. Proud to have worn the England jersey. The T20 World Cup win in Australia in 2022 is a memorable moment."

In his final match of the international career, Willey bagged three wickets and completed 100 ODI wickets. He shared that reaching this milestone is a special moment for him and wearing England's jersey was a proud moment for him.

Willey in his white-ball career picked up a total of 151 wickets, 100 in ODIs and 51 in the shortest format. In the 116-matches long career, he may have not been the best, but he was indeed an impactful player for the English team.
