Rohit Sharma Reflects On Wankhede Tribute

Rohit Sharma shared an emotional moment at the post-match presentation, reflecting on the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) recent decision to name a stand after him at his home ground.

The MCA has approved a proposal to rename Level 3 of the Divecha Pavilion as the ‘Rohit Sharma Stand’, making him part of an elite club of Indian cricketing legends to be honoured at the Wankhede.

“As a young kid I used to come here, watch the games. We were not allowed to come inside the stadium at some stages. Obviously, having played all my cricket here, grown up playing at this ground, to have that big honour, it's a very emotional moment. Whenever it happens, I don't know how I am going to react.”

It is important to mention that now his name will stand alongside greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Vijay Merchant, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Sachin Tendulkar-each of whom has a stand named in their honour at Mumbai’s iconic cricketing venue.

Rohit Sharma Roaring Back To Form

Rohit’s match-winning innings came at a crucial time for both him and his franchise. After a string of low scores in the ongoing IPL season, the "Hitman" came out all guns blazing. He stitched a 63-run opening stand with Ryan Rickelton before joining Suryakumar Yadav to finish the chase in style.

Rohit’s 76* was studded with four boundaries and six towering sixes. Along with SKY’s support, the duo piled up an unbeaten 114-run partnership in just 54 balls, sealing the chase of CSK’s 176/5 with ease.
