'Virat Kohli Better Than Sachin Tendulkar in ODIs': AUS Star Makes 'BOLD' Statement

Comparing cricketers between different eras ideally should be avoided, but fans, critics, and former players often end up pitting legends against each other.

An all-time great, Sachin Tendulkar, and modern-era maestro, Virat Kohli have constantly been likened, despite the latter calling this comparison unfair to the former.

Kohli is currently on the cusp of breaking Tendulkar's tally of 49 ODI hundreds and is sitting on 47 50-over tons, which could be broken in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, given the former Indian captain's form.

Australia's Test opener Usman Khawaja, who enjoys a good friendship with Kohli, has claimed that the Royal Challengers Bangalore batter is better than Tendulkar in One-Day cricket.

Speaking on Fox Cricket, Khawaja pointed out Kohli's statistics to prove his argument, further explaining breaking the former RCB captain's record in ODIs will be nearly impossible.

Here's what Khawaja said

"I am going to say Virat Kohli is better than Sachin Tendulkar in ODIs. If you look at the stats, he has almost taken over how many hundreds he (Tendulkar) has got, and he has played so many more less games. Sachin was the benchmark for when I grew up, but what Kohli is doing right now—no one has ever done that in the game."

Kohli's 47 ODI centuries have come in 284 matches, while Tendulkar's record of 49 tons came in 463. The Australian Test opener further hailed Kohli as the best run-chasers in ODIs.
