Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) climbed to the second spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 standings after defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home.

This victory marked their sixth win out of seven games played at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Abhishek Sharma thanks Hyderabad's curator

Hyderabad marked a glorious return to form in IPL 2024. Spearheaded by Pat Cummins, SRH relived their glory days.

The curator's efforts in preparing a wicket supportive to their formidable batting lineup were acknowledged by Abhishek Sharma, who thanked them for their contribution to the team's success.

"I want to thank the crowd, special mention to pitch curator and groundsmen. They have given pitches that have suited our style" - Abhishek Sharma said in post-match interview.

SRH has truly fortified their home ground, clinching victory in 6 out of 7 games and leveraging every home advantage to the fullest.

SRH comfortably beat Punjab Kings

Batting first, the Punjab Kings put on a strong performance from their top order, which took the team to a very good total of 214-5.

However, the start of Sunrisers Hyderabad's innings took a dramatic turn as Travis Head fell victim to Arshdeep Singh's excellent delivery on the very first ball.

Despite this setback, Abhishek Sharma launched a fierce counter-attack alongside Rahul Tripathi, who came back to the team.

Together, the dynamic duo attacked throughout the powerplay, putting Punjab Kings on the back foot with their aggressive batting display.

Abhishek Sharma showcased his brilliance with a blistering 66 runs off just 28 balls, while Tripathi made a strong comeback, contributing 33 runs off 18 balls. Nitish Reddy and Klaasen then delivered the final punch, guiding SRH to chase down the PBKS score in 19.1 overs.
