In a candid discussion with the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, Suryakumar Yadav recalled the series of events that led to his astonishing catch in the final over the T20 World Cup finals that basically turned the momentum into India’s favour.

The Indian cricket team, after winning the T20 World Cup in Barbados, arrived back home in the motherland on Thursday, July 4. A special charter flight was sent to bring the champions back home, and the team made their first stop in New Delhi to meet PM Narendra Modi for breakfast.

PM Modi had arranged a special get-together at the PMO office to have a brief chat with the World Champions about the World Cup experience and also congratulate them on the stunning victory.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive video shared by PMO office, Suryakumar Yadav was seen walking PM through the emotions and mindset he had while picking up David Miller’s catch at the boundary in the final over of the chase.

Yadav said he wasn’t sure about taking a clean catch at first as it was very close to the boundary rope. All he wanted to do was push the ball back in for a single or double and avoid a boundary.

However, SKY changed his mind as he saw no backup fielder in close proximity and decided to go for the catch by jumping over the ropes. SKY revealed that he had practised such catches a lot behind the scenes to be able to execute them on the biggest stage.

PM Modi lauded SKY and stated that he was lucky to have the opportunity to do something for India, especially since the shoulders and hopes of the fans had dropped.
