Delhi Capitals are undergoing a major reform ahead of IPL 2025 as they recently sacked Ricky Ponting as their head coach. Notably, Ponting joined DC in 2018, and in his seven-year reign with the Capitals, he failed to win a solitary IPL trophy.

Under Ponting, DC reached the finals once, but in the last few seasons, the Rishabh Pant-led side have failed to even qualify for the knockout rounds.

In the latest events, DC director of operations Sourav Ganguly opened up on the sacking. Hindustan Times reported that the 49-year-old was the first one to break the news to a Bangla daily Aajkaal, where they reported that Dada agreed to the fact that Ponting failed to make any difference to the side.

"Let me give you some news. Ricky Ponting won't be the DC coach anymore. Geoffrey Boycott is right! Ponting has not taken DC forward in these seven years. You need to talk to the management. I would suggest looking at Indian options for the coach," Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, Ganguly also expressed his interest in coaching DC for the upcoming seasons.

"Why not me? Let's see if I can do it or not. We need to rope in some new players. I wanted to bring in England's new star Jamie Smith for DC's SA20 side (Pretoria Capitals). He was even ready to come in, but then England will be busy for their India tour at that time," Ganguly added.

At the moment, Delhi Capitals have not named any contender in contention to succeed Ricky Ponting as Delhi Capitals' head coach. Recently, dada was also in the news after he reminded fans of his decision to appoint Rohit Sharma as India captain when he was BCCI president.
