Ravindra Jadeja has thanked his fans for their unwavering support throughout the 2023 World Cup despite Team India’s defeat to Australia in the final. The cricketer revealed that he and the rest of his teammates were even greeted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the match, who visited the dressing room to motivate the players.

Ravindra Jadeja thanks fans for support

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, after team’s crushing defeat in the 2023 World Cup final at a near-capacity Ahmedabad stadium, expressed his gratitude towards fans for backing the ‘Men in Blue’ throughout the tournament.

The 35-year-old also acknowledged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the team’s dressing room after the contest. Jadeja described Modi’s gesture as a motivating one for the players.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the legendary all-rounder wrote:

“We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating.”

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja himself had a final to forget, as the veteran all-rounder failed to fuel Team India’s scoring rate in their dismal 240-run effort upfront. Earlier in the innings, captain Rohit Sharma clobbered an entertaining 31-ball 47 while KL Rahul and Virat Kohli charted cautious half-centuries from their ends.

Following Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami’s sublime new-ball gambits during the Australian run-chase, the Indian bowlers failed to take any wicket until Travis Head powered had his side at the brink of the finishing line.

Overall, Ravindra Jadeja finished the 2023 World Cup with 16 wickets to his name. The seasoned campaigner also scored handy match-winning runs against New Zealand, Sri Lanka and South Africa and was an integral force in India’s 10-match winning streak up until the title clash in Ahmedabad.
