The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended the IPL 2025 season by a week in light of India’s rising border tensions with Pakistan. Shortly after confirming the same through press and media release on Friday, May 9; ICC Chairman and former BCCI secretary Jay Shah shared a rather patriotic message for his fans and followers on social media.
Addressing the vigilance of the Indian Armed Forces at the line of Pakistan’s cross-border attacks, Shah praised the valor of India’s troops. The administrator also urged all Indians to stand united in honoring the bravery of India’s military and security forces.
Jay Shah hails Indian Armed Forces
On Friday, May 9, ICC Chairman Jay Shah took to his Instagram account to share a message for India’s Armed Forces as well as for Indians in general. Praising the Indian Army for protecting the nation after Pakistan’s attempts of cross-border terrorist attacks, Shah urged the entire country to stand united in a bid to “honour our heroes”.
Jay Shah’s claims occurred a day after India’s Defense system intercepted all of Pakistan’s airstrike attempts in the civilian areas of Jammu, India. At the time, even the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala on May 8 was called off midway citing security concerns and floodlight failure.
Nonetheless, the attacks prompted the BCCI to postpone the IPL 2025 season by a week. The Indian board will be expected to unveil a new schedule and venues for the remainder of the tournament.
As many as 16 matches are still remaining in IPL 2025, including each of the four playoffs’ fixtures.
