The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has now received an anonymous bomb threat amidst India’s prevailing geo-political and border tensions with Pakistan. Earlier this week, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur also received similar threats before the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended the IPL 2025 season for the time being.
It is worth noting that BCCI confirmed the suspension of IPL 2025 shortly after Punjab Kings’ home fixture against Delhi Capitals was halted after just 10 overs worth of play in Dharamsala citing security concerns and floodlight failure.

The iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, also the home ground of the Delhi Capitals franchise in IPL, has received a bomb threat amidst escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan. As per a report, the DDCA received a threat mail in the morning hours of Friday, May 9.
The stadium was originally scheduled to host one more match this IPL 2025, in the form of Delhi Capitals’ upcoming home game against Gujarat Titans on May 11.
The threat was received just a couple of days after the Indian Armed Forces launched “Operation Sindoor” in Pakistan by targeting several terror bases.
IPL 2025 updates
On May 9, the BCCI confirmed that they will be suspending the IPL 2025 season by one week. The decision was taken by the IPL governing council after consulting with the key shareholders of the tournament.
The BCCI further stated that the board stands firmly with the nation, with the Indian government as well as with the Armed Forces of the country.
As many as 16 matches are still remaining in the IPL 2025 season, including each of the four playoffs’ fixtures.
