'Needed To...,' MS Dhoni Reveals Reason Behind His Low Batting Position In IPL 2024

MS Dhoni has recently confirmed his participation in IPL 2025, and the buzz around one of the world's finest leader has increased once again. He was recently spotted in an event for the promotion of Rigi App. He was asked plenty of questions in the event which included ones on India's T20 World Cup win, his schedule and his batting position in IPL 2024.

Dhoni gave detailed answers to each question, but his take on his batting position brought some very interesting details. Tanmay Bhatt, the host asked Dhoni why he does not bat up the order as everyone wants to see him on the field and he also did well whenever he batted in the last season. Dhoni replied to it in his usual analytical way. He stated that during IPL 2024, CSK management had an eye on India's squad selection for T20 World Cup 2024. 

MS Dhoni Opens Up On CSK's Planning During IPL 2024

The former CSK skipper added that they had Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube who were in with a chance to make it to the squad, and so they wanted to give them more chances. He also mentioned that the management was happy with what he was doing during the last season at the death and he was having fun.

"During last season, T20 WC squad was going to be announced - we want to give the chances who are fighting for that spot - we had Jadeja, Dube so unless we give them the opportunity - they needed to prove themselves, get into the Indian team - and team was happy what I was doing, it was lots of fun". 

MS Dhoni is set to be retained as an uncapped player ahead of IPL 2025 auction, but there is still doubt over other retentions with likes of plenty of quality players in CSK's arsenal.
