In a significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board has officially appointed Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan's new white-ball captain. In a press conference, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi announced that Rizwan would lead the Men in Green in the six-match white-ball series in Australia. Batting allrounder Agha Salman has been named as the vice-captain and will captain the team in Rizwan's absence in the Zimbabwe series.

Earlier today, the PCB selection committee announced the men's squads for the upcoming series against Australia and Zimbabwe. While Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were included in the team for the Australia series, explosive opener Fakhar Zaman and experienced allrounder Shadab Khan missed out on selection.

As the PCB didn't reveal the skipper in the squad, fans and experts were curious to know about Babar Azam's potential successor in white-ball formats. As expected, Rizwan has taken the reigns and is all set to captain the visiting contingent Down Under.

Mohammad Rizwan's Impressive Performance As A Player And Captain

Mohammad Rizwan has been one of the most consistent performers for Pakistan with the bat. The gritty wicketkeeper-batter has been particularly successful in the white-ball formats, helping Pakistan script many memorable wins with his clinical performances.

In 67 ODI innings, the right-handed batter has amassed 2088 runs, including three centuries and thirteen half-centuries. However, he is known for his T20I exploits, scoring 3313 runs at an average of 48.72 in the shortest format. More importantly, he has enjoyed stellar success as Multan Sultans' captain in the Pakistan Super League.

Meanwhile, Agha Salman was Pakistan's wrecker-in-chief with the bat in the recently concluded England Tests. He has been rewarded for his superb all-round attributes and could be a valuable addition to the leadership group.
