The Asia Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan turned out to be a one-sided affair, but the real drama started after the match. Indian players refused to shake hands with their Pakistan counterparts, and that offended the men in Green.
The Pakistan captain did not attend the post-match conference, and PCB took a strict stance. It demanded the removal of Andy Pycroft, the match referee of the game. Initially, PCB wanted him to be removed from the entire tournament, but then it was believed that he would not be present in at least the Pakistan matches. However, that too did not happen, and Pycroft was the match referee in Pakistan's game against the UAE too.
Pakistan Journalist Highlights PCB's Unnecessary Drama
The result has brought varied reactions from across the cricketing fraternity, and Pakistan's senior journalist Waheed Khan has launched a staunch criticism of PCB on his YouTube channel. The journalist argued that if you want to do drama, at least don't do it before the match. He was referring to the delayed start of the match between Pakistan and the UAE. He then questioned what came out in the end and accused PCB of misleading the pubic with a video with an audio.
He also added that they made a scapegoat of an official called Waseem by making him accept that there was a miscommunication at the toss.
"Tumhne Drama he karna hai na yaar, match ke pehle toh drama mat karo yaar. Kya nikla end me? Bewkoof banane ke liye ek press release kar di, ek video daali Andy Pycroft ke saath jiski koi audio nahi thi.Woh Salman Ali agha se, manager se, woh Waseem bichara Pakistani hai yoh usko istamaal kiya hoga. Usne kaha ke mujhse misunderstanding hogayi, matlab India ke against Toss ke waqt mujhse galti hogayi.
Waheed Khan Reveals Shocking Facts About PCB's Handshake Drama
The journalist then added that PCB could not do anything, so why do they keep on making big claims? He also highlighted the fact that Pakistan already knew about India's intentions, yet they deliberately tried to shake hands after the match.
"Kidhar gaya demand Andy Pycroft ko nikalne ka, usko Pakistan ke match se bhi nahi nikala. Aap badi badi baate kyu karte ho yaar, inko sab pata tha, toss me pata chal gaya tha, match ke pehle pata chal gaya tha ki India ke team handshake nahi karne wali aapse yaar phit bhi match ke baad jaa rahe hai handshake karne."
Thus, these revelations from a renowned Pakistan journalist speak a lot about the dirty politics behind the handshake fiasco. Now, both teams would go up against each other on September 21 in the Super 4 encounter, and tensions are expected to be high during that clash.
