Former India captain and ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has lavished a huge praise on modern-day batting legend Virat Kohli. Ganguly admired the cricketer’s passion and dedication for the game and hailed him for his work ethics both on and off the field.

He also counted himself lucky to witness Kohli’s batting and hunger for runs from close quarters.

As of now, Virat Kohli has opted himself out of India’s first two Test matches against England citing personal reasons. He will reportedly be making his return to the team’s setup from the third Test onwards, set to be played in Rajkot in mid-February.

Ganguly hails Virat Kohli and his hunger for runs

Sourav Ganguly expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli over his passion, as well as for his burgeoning appetite for runs every day. While speaking with India TV, he said:

“I feel lucky to see Virat Kohli’s batting, his passion & dedication for the game is amazing – hunger for runs is increasing every day. He works so hard on & off the field as well.”

Virat Kohli recently made his comeback to India’s T20I lore after a gap of 14 months through their home three-match series against Afghanistan. The cricketer punched out an attractive cameo at Indore before he was dismissed for a first-ball duck in front of a packed Bengaluru crowd in the third T20I.

While Team India is currently hosting England in a five-match Test series at home, Kohli opted himself out of the first two matches citing personal reasons. As per reports, the 35-year-old will be making his return to the Indian team for the third Test, set to be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The match will be staged between February 15 and February 19 and the series constitutes a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle.
