Bangladesh's captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, is setting high hopes for the T20I series against India, promising an aggressive approach as his team looks to bounce back from a Test series whitewash. With the first of three T20Is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 6, at the newly inaugurated Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior, Shanto is eager for a fresh start.

Shanto Focused on Aggressive Approach Against India

After a demoralizing 2-0 loss in the Test series, Najmul Shanto acknowledged that his team fell short of expectations but is now focused on turning over a new leaf.

"We are looking to win this series, to be very honest. We want to play aggressive cricket," Shanto declared confidently.

The skipper stated that Bangladesh has learned from past disappointments, specifically referencing their missed opportunity to reach the semi-finals in their last T20 World Cup.

"It’s a new team, so I hope all the players will play some good cricket here."

Najmul Shanto stressed that while the Test series was a bitter pill to swallow, it’s vital for the team to move forward with a positive mindset.

"We all know we didn’t play our best cricket (in Tests)," Shanto admitted.

However, he’s clear that the T20 format is a "totally different ball game" and is optimistic about the series

"Going forward, it’s a very important series for us, and we all know in T20, it’s about playing well on that particular day."

Unknown Wicket? No Problem for Shanto

The Gwalior pitch remains a bit of a mystery for both teams, but Shanto is not letting that cloud his focus.

"We don’t have much idea about the wickets, but we had practice sessions the last couple of days to figure out how the surface behaves," Shanto explained. "As an international team, we need to adjust as early as possible."

For Shanto, T20 cricket is a format that thrives on unpredictability, and the Bangladesh skipper is fully aware that victory often boils down to which team performs better on the day.

"In T20Is, you never know. It's important that on a that day, batting, bowling, fielding, those who are doing all the stuff well, that team will win. But, it's not about big names or new players or old players. So, it's important that particular day we need to play well," added the southpaw.

Eager to Rewrite the Script

With the IND vs BAN T20 series looming, Shanto is ready to wipe the slate clean and lead his team with renewed energy. Having faced the music in the Test series, the Bangladesh team is gearing up to rewrite their fortunes in the shortest format of the game.

As the action kicks off in Gwalior, all eyes will be on Shanto and his squad to see if they can walk the talk and deliver the aggressive brand of cricket he promises.
