Australia won their sixth World Cup title, when they defeated India in a rather one-sided game at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing 241 against a rampage Indian bowling attack, Travis Head and David Warner came out all guns blazing, and looked all set to finish the match early. However, three quick wickets turned the tides of the game.

At one stage, Australia were 47/3, but that is when Travis Head came to life and struck a crucial partnership alongside Marnus Labuschagne to guide Australia past the winning line. Head completed a majestic century and eventually departed for a 120-ball 137.

Victory was just a formality as Labuschagne completed his half-century to guide Australia to their sixth World title.

Maxwell lauds Head, Labuschagne

Speaking to the official broadcasters after the match, one of the heroes of this Australian team, Glenn Maxwell lauded the entire team and praised Head and Labuschagne for soaking up the pressure.

"It was bit of sloppy, but it feels amazing, I felt nice as I didn't have to bat too much today. It's nice to be out there and get over the line. Yeah it's bit different watching Head taking over Bumrah and Shami and Marnus soaking up the pressure. Doing it in the Finals is really great stuff," Maxwell said.

Travis Head was adjudged the Player of the Match for his scintillating hundred which came under immense pressure in a final.
