Ex-India spinner, Amit Mishra spoke about the prospect of Shubman Gill becoming India's next T20I captain following Rohit Sharma's retirement from the format after the T20 World Cup.

Shubman Gill who was a part of the traveling reserves in the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies captained India to a 4-1 T20I series triumph in Zimbabwe, winning 4 games in a row after falling short in the first T20I at Harare.

However, leg spinner, Amit Mishra, in a recent podcast that he appeared on, showed his disappointment with Gill's captaincy in the IPL where Gujarat Titans (GT) finished 8th under him, just collecting 12 points in the season.

Speaking on Shubman's possibility of getting India's captaincy, he said,

"I wouldn't [make him the captain], I saw him captaining in IPL. He doesn't know how to captain a team. He has no idea and has never led a side in his life," said Mishra.

 Mishra's Bold Call On Shubman Gill's Captaincy -

The first time captain Shubman, after an unfortunate season with GT showed his good captaincy skills as he took a young Indian side to Zimbabwe and won the series after a lackluster start to it. He also finished the series as the top run scorer with 170 runs in 5 innings.

The 41-year-old, Mishra who questioned Gill's captaincy has also represented India on 68 occasions and scalped 156 wickets across formats over a 14 year period from 2003 to 2017.
