Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal recently opened up on his relationship with current Indian head coach and ex-rival Gautam Gambhir. Kamran also took this opportunity to express his admiration for former Indian wicketkeeper and World Cup winning skipper MS Dhoni.

Kamran Akmal calls Gautam Gambhir his “brother”

While speaking on Cricblog, Kamran Akmal spoke in details about his relationship with former Indian opener and current head coach Gautam Gambhir. The ex-Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter claimed that he shares a “good bond” with “good friend” Gambhir, and even described the latter as his “brother”.

Notably, both Akmal and Gambhir were involved in a heated altercation with each other back in June 2010 during India’s high-octane Asia Cup match with Pakistan. The former Pakistan cricketer said:

“We share a good bond and are good friends. Even with Gautam Gambhir too. I mean me and Gautam are good friends too. I share a good relationship with him. He’s like my brother.”

Akmal hails MS Dhoni, recalls talks with ex-IND captain

Kamran Akmal also praised India’s decorated skipper MS Dhoni, describing him an “absolute match-winner” with a “super calm” demeanor. He added that the two used to share extensive chats about wicketkeeping as well as batting during their playing days. He added:

“No doubt MS Dhoni is someone with a different mentality altogether, an absolute match-winner and he’s super calm. The way he played was fantastic, and had a fantastic career. We used to talk a lot about wicket-keeping, we used to talk a lot about batting and yeah, it was often good to talk to MS Dhoni.”

Last month, Kamran Akmal slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for Pakistan’s lackluster performance across all formats off late. Taking to his YouTube channel, the former cricketer urged the PCB to learn from the Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI) in a bid to make Pakistan a cricketing superpower.
