Australian women's team skipper Alyssa Healy made a quirky remark during the pre-World Cup press conference captains' meeting, while speaking about the support. She asked CSK (Chennai Super Kings) fans to fill the stadium in large numbers while wearing the iconic yellow jersey.

Healy wants CSK fans to fill the stadiums during Australia matches

With a few days left for the Women's World Cup 2025 to begin in India, Australian skipper Alyssa Healy has made a witty remark in the captains' meeting ahead of the multilateral women's tournament. Speaking about the support, she asked CSK fans to wear the MS Dhoni's CSK jersey in the stadium, which would give the impression that they are supporting Australia since they both wear yellow.

The fact that Australia have no matches scheduled at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, despite that, the Chennai fans travel all around the country to support their side at different venues, which is a fact Healy is aware of. She mentioned that the CSK fans can come in and watch the Australian team play, as it would be nice to have the support of the Indian crowd.

“I’d really like to encourage the Indian fans to show up in their Chennai MS Dhoni shirts because they’re yellow. That would be great. Yeah, so show up in that, have some yellow in the crowd, that would be nice," Healy said at the captain’s day press meet.

Interestingly, just like every time, the Australian side are still the favorites to win this World Cup, irrespective of whether it's the women's team or the men's team. Considering the kind of players they have in the squad, who have the ability to dominate any opposition on any given day, regardless of the conditions.

India tough opponents to beat, believes Healy

The seven-time Women's World Cup winners' skipper, Healy, however, stressed that despite being labelled as favourites, she doesn't think that's the case, to be honest. The Indian side, in their home conditions, are a really tough team to beat, and she believes that this World Cup will be a tough challenge, considering all the sides in this tournament will be going all guns blazing.

“I don’t think it gets any easier. I feel like you have labelled us favourites, so thanks for that. But I don’t necessarily think that’s the case. I think India in their home conditions are going to be really, really tough to beat, along with a couple of captains sitting alongside. So it doesn’t get any easier. I think this ODI World Cup is going to be one of the strongest ones that I have been a part of," she said.

As for the Women's World Cup, the co-hosts, India and Sri Lanka, will take on each other in Guwahati on the 30th of September, while the Australian side will be playing their first game against New Zealand on the 1st of October in Indore.
