Rishabh Pant is having a really tough time with the bat in this IPL season. On Sunday, May 4, things didn’t get better as his poor form continued in the match against Punjab Kings. Chasing a big target of 237 runs in Dharamsala, Pant once again struggled and couldn’t score much. The pitch was good for batting, but Pant still couldn’t time the ball well and looked uncomfortable throughout.

He managed to score only 18 runs from 17 balls before getting out. Out of 11 matches this season, this was just the fourth time he crossed 10 runs and even then, he couldn't turn it into a big score.

Virender Sehwag Suggests Mental Reset To Rishabh Pant

Seeing this, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag gave some simple but strong advice. He said if Pant feels mentally disturbed or unsure about his game, he should just pick up the phone and talk to someone. Sehwag also suggested that Pant should watch old videos of himself  especially when he was scoring runs confidently in the IPL.

“According to me, he should watch videos of himself batting when he used to make runs in the IPL. You get confidence from watching that, you remember how you used to go about your innings," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“He has a phone. He can pick that up and call whoever he wants. If he feels that mentally he is not thinking right, then so many cricketers can help him. If he considers Dhoni as his role model, then he should talk to him," he added.

Rishabh Pant's Rough Patch Continues In IPL 2025

Rishabh Pant’s numbers this season tell the full story,  just 128 runs in 11 games with an average of only 12.8. His team, LSG (LSG), are also struggling. With Pant out of form, and stars like Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran not performing either, LSG's campaign is falling apart.

Against PBKS, the team looked in poor form as they were struggling at 73/4 halfway through and eventually ended at 199/7, with the great effort coming from Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad.

Currently, LSG have 10 points from 11 games and sit at the 7th spot on the points table. But with a negative net run-rate of -0.47, even three wins might not be enough to guarantee a playoff spot.

Their next game is at home, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), on May 9.
