A rivalry that has produced moments both on and off the field, Pakistan will square off against neighbours Afghanistan today at Chennai in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Pakistan hold an overwhelming advantage over Afghanistan in ODIs, winning all their seven encounters, while the matches have been nail-biters. Former Pakistan captain and PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has issued caution for Team Pakistan.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the 1992 WC winner stated that Afghanistan's famed spinning trio could be a key factor, given the conditions on offer in Chepauk.

The Chennai track is expected to offer assistance to spinners, where the likes of Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman will come into play.

Here's what Raja said

"It will be difficult for Pakistan to make a turnaround. Anything can happen in Chennai in their next match is against Afghanistan. Keeping in mind the performance of Pakistan batters against spin, anything can happen here. If it's a spinning wicket, I think Afghanistan will be slightly ahead as favourites."

Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan are coming off back-to-back defeats against India and Australia, respectively, and have dropped down to fifth position in the points table, having won two games and lost as many.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, have won just one match and lost three. However, their one win came against the defending champions, England, which has created quite a buzz around the team.
