In a scathing attack on BCCI, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali slammed India for reportedly refusing to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, stating the BCCI secretary Jay Shah is influencing other cricket boards to dance to his tunes.

The 2025 Champions Trophy hosting rights remain with Pakistan despite criticism and concerns over security in the Asian country.

While the PCB has begun preparations for the ICC event by revamping stadiums, India’s participation is still under the scanner.

As per recent reports, BCCI will likely request ICC to shift India’s Champions Trophy games to a neutral venue since the Indian government is unlikely to approve the team’s travel to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali was furious upon learning about BCCI’s alleged stand.

In his YouTue video, Ali claimed that BCC secretary Jay Shah is an influential personality and 5-6 cricket boards in the world blindly follow his instructions.

"5-6 boards jo haina dum hilate huye woh baat karenge jo Jay Shah bolenge. If he says the Champions Trophy will be in Pakistan, they’ll agree. If he says it’ll be a hybrid model, they’ll go with that too," Basit Ali said.

"It’s because when their players play in the IPL, BCCI pays their boards a huge amount whether it’s the English board, New Zealand board, West Indies board, or Australia board,"  he added.

Ali argued that Shah had got the top boards’ confidence and support by paying huge sums of money in exchange for their players’ participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Not only that, he urged PCB not to pay heed to any board’s offer to host a bilateral series between India and Pakistan, as the series should only be held if India is willing to travel across the border.
