In a candid interview with AB de Villiers, Pakistan white ball captain Babar Azam ignored Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in picking the former Protea batting phenomenon as the best batter he had played against in his international career.

Babar Azam, widely regarded as one of the modern great batters, is currently being tested as Pakistan cricket remains in turmoil following an embarrassing exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Momentarily, Babar Azam has retained his white ball captaincy as Pakistan aims to revive and become competitive again under his leadership.

Meanwhile, amid the off-season, Babar Azam appeared for a candid chat with former South African cricketer AB de Villiers. The interview went live on the ex-batter’s YouTube channel as he fired quick questions at Azam in a rapid-fire round.

However, AB de Villiers had a humbling experience when Babar picked him as the best batter he had ever played against in his career. Moreover, when the Protea urged Babar Azam to pick someone from the active players, the PAK captain refused to do so, as de Villiers remains his all-time favourite batter.

Additionally, Babar deemed Australian captain Pat Cummins as the toughest bowler he ever faced outside of his own team and singer Atif Aslam as the most popular contact on his phone list.

Notably, Pakistan will resume action with a home Test series against Bangladesh that will go on floors from August 21 before England tours Pakistan for a three-game red ball series.

Babar Azam, meanwhile, will focus on refining his form as a batter as Shan Masood will lead the red ball team.
