On Sunday, May 11, several developments took place in regards to the resumption of IPL 2025. First and foremost, it was reported that the league would commence from May 16 and the BCCI has ordered the franchises to ask their overseas stars to return by Tuesday.
Notably, on May 8, the IPL took a brief hiatus in the view of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The governing body suspended the league for a week and it resulted in the overseas stars leaving for their respective nations. Now since the two nations have announced a ceasefire, the IPL is set to resume and the foreign stars have been asked to return. However, reports say that several top stars such as Mitchell Star and Pat Cummins have refused to return in the view of the tensions between the two countries.

We have only two more games left, and we have advised the overseas players that they may have to return in a week," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
