Border-Gavaskar Trophy, contested between India and Australia, is a growing rivalry that has captured the attention of millions of cricketing fans across the globe. Since the past decade, the rivalry has taken a new shape due to India's unexpected dominance.

Since 2016, India have not lost a single Border-Gavaskar Series, meaning the mighty Aussies have struggled to outclass a high-spirited young Indian side. That being said, since the inception of BGT in 1996, many batters have stood with big scores, including hundred and double hundreds.

Former Australian captain Michael Clarke was a central figure in the India-Australia rivalry in the last decade. In a total of 40 innings played in the series, Clarke scored as many as 7 hundreds. He also maintained an average of 53.92 throughout this time. Clarke's ability to counter spin and pace in subcontinental conditions made him a significant player in the series, and his stats speak for themselves.

Ponting was class apart in ODI and Test format. Modern-day great Virat Kohli redefined the India-Australia rivalry with exquisite hitting and powerful aggression. He dominated and owned the Australians in their own backyard to score 8 hundred in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, thus equalling Ricky Ponting's record. With 1979 total runs against Australia, Virat Kohli has consistently been India's driving force in this series, and his leadership has added a new dynamic to the rivalry.

Another batter from the modern-day generation who stood out in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was Steve Smith. Across 35 innings, he slammed 8 hundreds with 1887 runs and an impressive 65.06 average. Smith, who rose to fame for his adaptability and unorthodox technique, he continued to be a nightmare for Indian bowlers. At home, his record is prolific and even after relinquishing captaincy, Smith stayed as the backbone of Australia's batting lineup.
