Former Australian captain Michael Clarke was a central figure in the India-Australia rivalry in the last decade. In a total of 40 innings played in the series, Clarke scored as many as 7 hundreds. With 1979 total runs against Australia, Virat Kohli has consistently been India's driving force in this series, and his leadership has added a new dynamic to the rivalry.

Smith, who rose to fame for his adaptability and unorthodox technique, he continued to be a nightmare for Indian bowlers. At home, his record is prolific and even after relinquishing captaincy, Smith stayed as the backbone of Australia's batting lineup.
