Haris Sohail refutes retirement rumours!
However, irrespective of the promising stats, Haris Sohail has been out of the team since the past 3-4 years across all formats of the game. Given his prolonged absence, rumours started flaring that Sohail is taking retirement from international cricket.
That being said before the news got traction, Haris Sohail released a statement. As quoted by Cricket Pakistan, Sohail dismissed the baseless rumours and clarified that he has no intentions to retire whatsoever. He wants to continue fighting for a spot in the national team and the passion to play the game he loves the most still remains.
“I have not made any decision to retire, nor do I have any such intention. My full focus is on continuing to play the game that I love," Sohail said.
Meanwhile, PCB also confirmed that they reached out to Haris Sohail and he conveyed that retirement is not on the cards for him anytime soon.
Aaqib Javed to coach Pakistan’s white-ball team
Following Gary Kirsten’s resignation as Pakistan’s white ball format coach, selection committee head Aaqib Javed has been announced as his interim successor. Javed will coach Pakistan in the white-ball formats until the Champions Trophy 2025. Initially, Aaqib Javed was rumoured to even replace coach Jason Gillespie in the red ball format. But for now, PCB will keep Gillespie in the setup, at least until the South Africa series.
