One of the most demanding jobs in world cricket is coaching, and that too, of a subcontinental nation, it is even more tough. Former Pakistan captain Misbah-Ul-Haq, who worked as head coach of the men's national side between 2019-2021, has denied being offered a role by the current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regime.

As quoted by Cricket Pakistan, Misbah, who also served as chief selector between 2019-2020, stated that when an opportunity arises, he will look into the role and demands of it, before taking it up.

The 49-year-old stepped down as head coach just ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE, following disagreements with the-then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja.

"I have not been contacted by PCB as of yet. When they will contact me, then I will see. I already have a lot of prior commitments, whether it is with leagues or with Television channels. It won’t be easy to immediately to take up a role with the Pakistan team. I will have to see what role will be offered and whether I would be able to do it or no," Misbah cited.

The former Pakistan captain's name cropped up into the running after Abdul Razzaq said that the former could make a comeback given the change in PCB's top management.

"Now, with the recent change in PCB's chief, I understand that they are unable to make any decisions right now. However, I feel that Misbah-ul-Haq has a good chance of taking charge of the Pakistan team again," stated Razzaq.

Misbah, who was Pakistan's 30th head coach took over the role from the current Team Director Mickey Arthur in 2019 for three years.
